Hegi Family Career Development Center Highlights

Last fall, several Economics professors participated in the Hegi Econ Extra-Credit Program. Some of the highlights were the Fall 2016 Econ Alumni Panel.  Over 75 students attended to hear recent alumni Clay Moore, (AT&T), Adam Mueller, (Berkeley Research Group) and Sam Quinif, (Goldman Sachs) share their experiences transitioning from 91³Ô¹ÏÍø to the professional workplace.

Several students also took advantage of the new Mustang Connections Program and had the opportunity to apply to one of five different Dallas-Fort Worth headquarters for a unique one-day experience on October 11th, the second day of Fall break. The program included a company tour, interactive meeting with recruiters, alumni panel and opportunity to network and shadow current employees.  Students visited AT&T, FedEX Office, Dr. Pepper Snapple, Epsilon and EY.

Davis Smith, Econ May 2017 attended the Mustang Connection visit to Dr. Pepper Snapple.  He reflects, "I received lots of advice about how to differentiate myself in the job search and fantastic advice on how to break into the CPG industry."

In the spring, students attended Mocktails with Mustangs and networked with over 25 alumni and employers over mock cocktails and fine-tuned their elevator pitch and learned more about opportunities with GM Financial, Sendero, The Dallas Federal Reserve Bank and more!

The Spring Econ Alumni Panel boasted a strong group of women in the ranks represented by Elisabeth Molloy, (McAfee), Gopika Shah, (Hilton) and Vanisha Patel (American Airlines).  Sam Quinif served as a popular returning panelist and shared more in depth about how he networked and prepared for his role at Goldman Sachs.  Over 125 students attended the spring panel and learned more about job research, preparation, and networking.
