Mike Howard
Founder | Law Office of Mike Howard
Adjunct faculty
Mike Howard began his career representing people who could not afford a lawyer at Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas and then at the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office. Mr. Howard left the Public Defender’s Office when his caseload became so large that he could not give every client the time and focus they deserved. Mr. Howard opened the in 2009 and has represented people charged with criminal offenses in state and federal court in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex ever since. Mr. Howard uses his extensive experience as a trial lawyer as well as his relationships with judges, prosecutors, and court staff to achieve the best possible results for his clients. Understanding that mental health issues, substance abuse, and other unresolved trauma often underlie people’s criminal cases, Mr. Howard treats his clients as the people they are, getting to know each and treating them with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Mr. Howard frequently collaborates with and mentors other lawyers regarding criminal defense and trial skills issues. Mr. Howard has previously taught courses on advanced criminal law topics at the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law and has presented frequently to various groups, including the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Dallas Bar Association, and DBA Entrepreneurs in Community Lawyering incubator program. Mr. Howard has stayed involved with the 91勛圖厙 Criminal Defense Clinic since shortly after he graduated from 91勛圖厙 Dedman School of Law in 2001.
