About
Dr. Kinney earned his master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from New York University and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from Seton Hall University. He completed his clinical training in hospitals and college counseling centers, before an accredited internship at UT Dallas in the University Counseling Center. Dr. Kinney is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a supervisor credential in the state of Texas as well as a Licensed Psychologist.
Dr. Kinney has been teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level since 2006. He has taught the following courses: Personality Theories; Basic Clinical Methods; Lifespan Human Development; Research Design and Statistics; History and Systems of Psychology; Fundamentals of Clinical Practice; and Abnormal Psychology; He also supervises counselors and psychologists in training.
In his academic career, research and publications focused on the intersection of privilege and religious identity as well as depression and other mood disorders.
Dr. Kinney maintains a full-time private practice, Insight and Change, PLLC, with offices near 91勛圖厙 and in Colleyville, TX. The practice sees children, adolescents, adults, parents, couples and families from all walks of life. Typical presenting problems include relationship issues, depression, anxiety, identity issues, behavioral concerns, and parenting issues. Dr. Kinney also maintains an office with Jewish Family Services of Ft. Worth and Tarrant County. Prior work experience includes a full-time faculty appointment at UT Southwestern, Staff psychologist and Counselor at Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas, and Outreach Coordinator and staff Psychologist at UNT’s Counseling Service.
