Biography

Dr. Xin-Lin Gao is currently a tenured full professor of mechanical engineering at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø. He has also held tenured or tenure-track faculty positions at University of Texas-Dallas (UTD) (3 years), Texas A&M University (7 years), and Michigan Technological University (4 years). He has authored 160 journal papers, 3 book chapters, 157 conference publications, and 5 editorials. He has been an editor/guest editor of one book, proceedings of one conference, and five special journal issues. He was the co-editor for Handbook of Micro- and Nanomechanics (1206 pages). He has been a reviewer for 129 journals, 10 publishers and 14 funding organizations and has organized 35 symposia at major international conferences. He is currently an associate editor for Mechanics of Materials, CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, and Journal of Micromechanics and Molecular Physics. He is also an editorial board member of Acta Mechanica, Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids, Scientific Reports and seven other journals.

His recent professional and university service includes serving as the Chair of the ASME Aerospace Division, the Chair of the Structures and Materials Technical Committee of ASME, the Chair of the Promotion & Tenure Committee of Lyle School of Engineering at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø, and a member of the Executive Committee of the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Faculty Senate.
