Screening protocols to determine who qualifies for “compassionate dialysis” in hospitals with high numbers of uninsured patients are driving an unintended consequence. OREM chair Sila Çetinkaya and her research team show that these protocols are putting too much strain on emergency rooms.

OREM Undergraduate David Troxell (a graduate student at Stanford as of Fall 2021) was selected runner-up for INFORMS Undergraduate Operations Research Prize. David's award winning work was co-advised by OREM Assistant Professors Miju Ahn and Harsha Gangammanavar.
